ATTENTION iSHOWSPEED: DO THESE THINGS IN GHANA, ELSE YOU'RE DOING GHANA WRONG | SPEED AFRICA TOUR šŸƒ

Updated: 11 minutes ago

Since the start of iShowSpeed’s highly anticipated African tour, it’s clear this journey is more than content; it signals a new chapter in how Africa is experienced, represented, and celebrated globally. With millions of fans following his adventures in real time, the perception of each destination is reshaped through Speed’s raw, unfiltered, and highly interactive travel style. He doesn’t simply visit places; he immerses himself fully in the culture. With its vibrance, humor, and unpredictability, Accra, Ghana stands out as the city best suited to match Speeds energetic persona and daring antics. Known as the Gateway to Africa, Accra is where culture, history, and modern influence collide seamlessly, offering the perfect blend of chaos and charm that aligns perfectly with iShowSpeed’s chaotic, authentic streaming style and fuels his most viral moments. To truly capitalize on this ideal match, the hosting team must carefully select the right activities and venues. Fortunately, with our vast knowledge of trip curation, we know the right moves to make.

There is no shortage of amazing things to do in Ghana for the average tourist, but iShowSpeed is not a typical tourist. With his athletic background, energy and down-to-earth persona, here is the list of authentic, engaging, on-brand and absolutely do-able activities he can complete in just 2 days!

Learn Cultural Drumming & Dancing

Three women in vibrant African attire dance on a red carpet at an outdoor event, surrounded by a crowd. Joyful expressions and colorful patterns.

Chances are Speed will be welcomed at Kotoka International Airport by local dancers, but truly tapping into Ghana’s dance culture requires a more immersive setting. As a creator who thrives on choreography, challenges, and high-energy moments, Speed should be given a quick crash course in both traditional and contemporary Ghanaian dances such as Adowa, Agbadza, Azonto, Asakaa, Baamaya, Bewa, Takai, and Afrobeats. Armed with a few signature moves, he could then challenge the dancers to an impromptu battle in true Speed fashion. The moment would be even more electric if his team pre-arranged a showdown with iconic local stars like Incredible Zigi or DanceGod Lloyd. Learning a few steps would take only minutes, but the impact would be massive—instantly setting the tone for the trip and creating the perfect springboard for banter, competition, and unforgettable interactions with locals.

Visit the Accra Arts Center

Colorful market stall with vibrant kente cloths, fabrics, and African souvenirs. A seated person is visible, surrounded by items. Lively mood.

Speed is known for picking up local merch to wear in every country he visits, and Ghana should be no exception. Before diving into the main highlights of his stay, a stop at the Accra Arts Centre would set the tone perfectly. There, he can interact with local artisans while selecting vibrant Kente stoles, traditional Ghanaian beads, and hand-carved Adinkra symbols crafted from ebony wood—pieces that go far beyond souvenirs and carry deep cultural meaning. For an instantly recognizable keepsake, the iconic Akwaaba plaque is a must. With its wide variety of crafts and the high-energy, engaging vendors, the Arts Centre is guaranteed to deliver memorable interactions and authentic cultural moments for Speed.

Wear Authentic Ghanaian Kente

Two men in vibrant kente cloth and sunglasses stand confidently on a street, with a modern building in the background.

Beyond receiving a Kente stole and wooden Adinkra carvings, Speed should fully embrace Ghanaian style by getting his own authentic Kente outfit and Oheneba slippers—and wearing them proudly, as tradition encourages. Bonus points if he completes the look with local gold or costume jewelry and a kufi cap for added authenticity. Speed has done this many times before as a sign of respect for the cultures he visits, and in Ghana, it’s one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to show appreciation. In addition to a full hand-woven Kente cloth, he could also pick up a sleek kaftan or authentic Ghanaian wax-print fabric as a souvenir. While it may sound like a lot, the entire experience wouldn’t take more than an hour.

Learn Local Greetings, Insults & Proverbs

Wooden carvings and a speaker on a rustic surface. Text: "Yesoma onyansafoɔ, ɛnyɛ anamɔntenten" and "We send a wise person, not one with long legs."

Although Ghana is an English-speaking country, over 80 languages and dialects are spoken across the nation. While it would be impossible for Speed to learn them all, picking up a few warm greetings, clever (and occasionally confusing) proverbs, and playful insults in the main languages spoken in Accra—Ga, Twi, and Pijin—would be both entertaining and culturally engaging. His uncensored reactions to the poetic, colorful, and sometimes wildly expressive nature of local communication would undoubtedly make for memorable content.

Make Ghanaian Food

Two women in colorful dresses, one pounding with a wooden pestle, the other kneeling by a mortar. Orange and white building in background.

While cooking may not traditionally align with Speed’s high-energy brand, preparing Ghanaian staples like FufuĀ and BankuĀ demands physical strength, stamina, and quick reflexes—qualities that perfectly match his athleticism. These activities also offer rich cultural insight. For example, Speed could race a fufu pounding machineĀ to see who finishes first, or try his hand at making Banku the traditional way on a coal pot. Both experiences would give him a hands-on understanding of the skill and effort behind these iconic dishes while allowing him to engage directly with the hardworking locals who prepare them every day.

Street Food Challenge Ā

Grilled meat skewers on a barbecue with smoky, charred seasoning. Wooden sticks pierce the juicy, browned meat. Lush green background.

Sticking with the food theme, Speed should take on an Accra Food Tour, sampling some of Ghana’s most beloved local dishes, drinks, and snacks while giving his signature live reactions. Trying local delicacies fits perfectly with Speed’s content style—it’s fun, engaging, and easy to capture. According to last year’s polls, Accra’s top five main dishes are Waakye, Jollof, Fufu, Kenkey, and AngwamooĀ (if you disagree, make sure to VOTE next time!). The top beverages included Sobolo, Asana, FanMilk products, Kube (fresh coconut), and Brukina (local yogurt), while the top snacks included Bofroat, Kelewele, Chichinga, Kosua ne Meko (boiled egg with pepper), and Nkatie Cake. Sampling these foods, drinks, and snacks would give Speed a well-rounded taste of Ghanaian cuisine. To add extra entertainment, he could even attempt a spice challenge, testing how well he can handle the variety of flavorful Ghanaian pepper sauces that accompany these dishes. Can Speed handle Ghanaian pepper sauces without losing it on stream? Fans will be screaming, laughing, and replaying every reaction. This tour isn’t just a taste of Ghana—it’s a front-row seat to chaos, flavor, and Speed’s unforgettable reactions.

Makola Madness

Busy market scene with people carrying large trays of bananas on their heads. Vibrant outfits and bustling shops in the background.

The Makola Market remains a must-visit tourist attraction because it offers an unfiltered, authentic glimpse into the daily lives of thousands of Accra residents. Here, Speed could dive into the organized chaos of the bustling marketplace, and perhaps even try hawking or balancing wares on his head while navigating the crowded lanes to truly appreciate the strength and skill of the average vendor. Amidst the vibrant hum of trade and movement, he would experience the same kind of raw, high-energy intensity that defines his own content, all while engaging directly with hardworking Ghanaians going about their daily grind. Like Speed’s streams, the beauty and energy of Makola is entirely unscripted and alive.

Stunts with Jamestown and Nima BikersĀ

Man performs wheelie on red motorcycle in urban street, wearing striped shirt; background shows blurred buildings and warm lighting.

Just like Makola, Jamestown stands as a historic and cultural powerhouse in the heart of the city and an essential stop for Speed. In addition to exploring the historic streets and soaking in the raw energy of old Accra, Speed could engage with Jamestown’s fearless daredevils, experiencing their vibrant biking culture in a controlled, safe way that keeps him out of harms way but still captures the thrill. Both the Jamestown and Nima bikers boast huge followings who share the same vibrant and rowdy spirit that perfectly aligns with Speed’s streams, making the collaboration seamless. The additional appeal of revving motors in Nima becomes indisputable when you throw in the King of Nima Boys: Shatta Wale. Imagine the utter scatter and excitement when the King summons his spirited nation to hype Speed up - it will be a true explosion of pure viral madness.

Race Abdul-Rasheed Saminu

Athlete in a yellow Ghana jersey holding a baton, saluting during a race. "TDK", "SAMINU", and "TOKYO 25" visible. Focused expression.

Abdul-Rasheed has transcended his roots as a humble street boy to become the fastest Ghanaian in recorded history, the second-fastest man in NCAA 100-meter history, and a national legend. If he is available, it would be a missed opportunity for the Speed team not to feature this matchup. Even in his absence, the streets of Ghana, where Abdul grew up, and the Ghana Athletics Association are full of other lightning-fast locals ready for Speed to challenge. His energetic and unpredictable style is sure to inspire and create unforgettable moments with any contender.

Backflips on the Beach

People playing and enjoying a sunny beach; lively atmosphere with blue umbrellas, crashing waves, and onlookers in colorful attire.

Just 10 minutes from Jamestown lies Accra’s most popular beach, the perfect spot for Speed to unleash his energy. Given how Speed thrives on chaos and how much more he loves doing backflips, why not set up the opportunity for a backflip in one of the most active yet paradoxically relaxing places in Accra? With the colorful and talented Labadi and Laboma beach boys and girls, Speed can dive into beach volleyball, soccer, raves, horse riding, or simply chill by the shore. The beaches are packed with enough action and stimuli to keep his content lively and engaging for hours. Missing out on the sunny, 540 km stretch of Ghanaian coastline would truly be a disservice to both him and his fans.

Street Football with Locals

Players in yellow and blue uniforms play volleyball outdoors near old white buildings. The ball is in mid-air under a clear blue sky.

Football is, of course, unavoidable in Ghana. Ghana is a football-mad nation, and Speed’s skill and passion for the game makes a street football challenge, an academy visit, or a Black Stars training session almost inevitable.Ā Since Ghana is the home to one of the best football teams on the continent, our streets are also teeming with young, undiscovered talent waiting for a chance to shine. Speed could easily join a quick street-rules game or a skill challenge, which takes less than 20 minutes but generates enough energy and hype to fuel online banter with fans for days. Street football is everywhere—on nearly every corner—and extremely easy to find (we know of at least 22 weekly games without even trying). Imagine Speed in a Ghana jersey, passionately debating football takes with locals—that’s pure content gold.

Boxing With Bukom Talent

Two boxers in action: one in red, with a Ghana flag on his uniform, lands a punch on another in blue. Intense match in a dim arena.

As the birthplace of boxing legends like Ike Quartey, Azumah Nelson, David Kotei, and the infamous Bukom Banku, Ghana, particularly Bukom, is still home to young, impressive talent and a vibrant boxing community. Can Speed and his athletic prowess handle time in the ring with Ghana's Banku powers? It will be a shame not to find out. With the resources and connections of the Speed team, there’s potential to bring in Bukom Banku himself, or his top protĆ©gĆ©s, for a controlled, safe matchup against the truly impressive and multifaceted athlete that is iShowSpeed. Done within strict safety measures, this encounter would give Speed and his fans an authentic behind-the-scenes look at Ghana’s boxing world, as well as real face time with some of its most promising talent.

Nightlife in Accra

A performer balances a flaming rod with their foot raised, set against a vibrant stage with drums and blue lighting, exuding a dynamic vibe.
SoHoAccra

Ghana’s music scene is a major attraction in its own right. From Afrobeats and highlife to Asakaa (Ghanaian drill) and Afro-Amapiano, the city pulses with rhythms that dominate both local playlists and global charts. A studio session with Ghanaian artists, DJs, or even a surprise club appearance, would instantly trend worldwide. Though partying hard is off-brand for Speed, a visit the party capital of Africa will not be complete without a nightlife experience. Contrary to popular belief, Accra nightlife is active with fire-breathers, contortionists, drummers, dancers, saxophone players and more from Monday to Sunday all year round and not just in December (IKR!? Who knew?). Accra’s nightlife is already a spectacle to behold; adding Speed’s presence would elevate it to a whole new level. He doesn't have to stay out till 8am like the rest of us, but he should surely experience Accra’s undefeated party culture.Ā

Trotro Transportation

Ghana trotro mate leans out of a white and blue van gesturing, with busy cars and blurred background. Vibrant colors suggest a lively urban scene.
thefotowalker

The tro-tro, Ghana’s iconic shared minibus, is the main mode of transportation for millions of locals, and no visit would be complete without experiencing it firsthand. As an immersive traveler, Speed absolutely must experience the troski way. Trotro's are controlled and safe but still guarantee endless opportunities for hilarious live reactions. Picture Speed watching an old Ghallywood classic like KyeiwaaĀ on the tiny screen (if he is lucky), or being preached to with no context while he fights the mate for his correct change. His presence is bound to surprise some lucky fans, or earn him new friends, as he interacts with locals in the intimate bus setting. Watching Speed sample and rate street snacks through the open windows will also add a truly authentic touch to the experience. And maybe, if he's lucky like I was, he may witness the tro-tro door fall off mid-ride, the mate scramble out of the moving bus to go and pick it up and the mate hold ing the door closed for the remainder of the ride - a true, unforgettable slice of authentic Ghanaian life. I should know because I'm not making it up - this really happened last time I boarded a trotro.

Take An Okada Bike Tour of Accra City

People sitting on motorcycles lined up on a busy street; colorful helmets and bikes in view; scene is lively and bustling.

An Okada City Tour sounds unconventional but its a game-changer - hear me out. This tour style kills 5 birds with 1 stone: saving time, showing Accra, teaching history, adding cultural depth, and fan interaction all at once! lets Speed move quickly through Accra, hitting major landmarks, top monuments, and cultural hubs while staying up-close and personal with locals along the streets. Beyond the thrill, it adds depth to his tour, with visits to places like the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Osu Castle / Ussher Fort, Asomdwe Park and cultural centers along the way. The experience is both educational and visually compelling, offering moments of reflection that resonate globally, particularly with fans interested in African and Black history. These quieter, meaningful beats create the perfect balance to the high-energy chaos of Speed’s content, showcasing a more grounded and thoughtful side of his journey.

Quad biking through Shai Hills is an ideal experience for iShowSpeed because it perfectly aligns with his high-energy, unpredictable, and adrenaline-driven content style while offering visually striking and culturally refreshing moments. The rugged terrain, wide open savannah, red dust trails, and occasional wildlife sightings create cinematic backdrops that are instantly clip-worthy and tailor-made for viral moments across livestreams and short-form content. It provides the thrill and chaos Speed is known for, but within a controlled and supervised environment that keeps the experience safe and structured for live streaming. Shai Hills also allows for easy gamification—races, challenges, and friendly competition with locals—which naturally fuels Speed’s humor and engagement. Beyond entertainment, it showcases a different side of Ghana that many viewers don’t expect, expanding the narrative beyond cities, markets, and nightlife to include adventure and natural beauty. As a short day trip from Accra, it’s logistically simple yet high-impact, offering variety, balance, and nonstop action, making it one of the smartest and most compelling activities Speed could take on during his visit to Ghana.

Cape Coast Tour

Book A Tour

iShowSpeed’s visit to Cape Coast would add depth, perspective, and lasting meaning to his Ghana experience, transforming the tour from purely viral entertainment into a culturally significant journey. A walk through Cape Coast Castle—particularly the dungeons and the Door of No Return—would connect his millions of viewers, especially those in the African diaspora, to a pivotal chapter of global Black history. This moment of reflection would reveal a more grounded, human side of Speed, offering emotional balance to his trademark high-energy, chaotic content. It would also signal that his African tour is intentional and respectful, acknowledging Africa not just as a backdrop for content but as a place with powerful stories that deserve attention. The contrast between the solemn atmosphere of Cape Coast and the vibrant, fast-paced energy of Accra would strengthen the overall narrative of his trip, making the experience richer and more complete. By spotlighting a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Speed would elevate global awareness of Ghana’s historical importance while reinforcing the country’s role as a place of remembrance, reconnection, and healing for people of African descent worldwide.

Extra Adventure: Go Fishing with the Local Fishermen

Boat on blue sea with five people, colorful flags, and fishing gear. Bright sunlight reflects off the water, creating a vibrant scene.
iShootGhana

We've seldom seen iShowSpeed go in water so this is definitely a stretch, however the authenticity of the experience is undeniable! Going fishing would create one of the most authentic and impactful moments of his African tour. Unlike staged tourist experiences, joining local fishermen at dawn to cast nets and haul in the day’s catch offers a genuine look into a centuries-old way of life that remains central to coastal Accra. The physical challenge, early start, and teamwork involved would push Speed outside his comfort zone, naturally sparking the high-energy reactions and humor his audience loves. At the same time, the experience would foster real, unfiltered interactions with locals whose expressive personalities and communal spirit mirror the vibrancy of Ghanaian culture. Visually and emotionally, the contrast between Speed’s usual settings and the simplicity of life at sea would make the moment stand out, while introducing millions of viewers to Ghana beyond nightlife and landmarks. Ultimately, fishing with the Osu fishermen would blend culture, challenge, and connection into a single unforgettable experience that will showcase Ghana’s depth and leave a lasting impression. This content will be the stuff of legend!

iShowSpeed in Ghana (Africa Tour Potential Travel Schedule)

There are many more activities that will be awesome for iShowSpeed to do when he visits Ghana for 2 days between the 20th and the 23rd of January (according to our guesstimated projections which we've outlined below). Due to his time constraints, the exciting trips to monuments up north and cities over 3 hours away are simply not feasible. Since Speed announced that he will be doing a tour of 20 countries in 28 days and he started in the Southern Region of Africa on the 29th of December, we believe that with 8 southern countries on his list, he will get to Eastern Africa around the 9th - 10th of January then move to North Africa probably starting with Egypt around the 15th/16th of January and finally to West Africa around the 18th - 19th starting with Senegal. We're therefore speculating that he will be in Ghana between the 20th and 23rd and that he will wrap his tour up in Nigeria by the 25th. However this timeline is merely speculative as we have no contact with the Speed team!

Conclusion

Accra is not a city you ā€œobserveā€ from a distance; it pulls you in and demands participation. From the organized chaos of Makola Market to the high-energy nightlife of Osu and East Legon, the city runs on personality, energy, and spontaneity - the exact fuel that Speed thrives on. Ghana’s youth-driven culture, humor, music, and warmth make it a natural fit for his raw, unscripted style. The reactions would be genuine, the moments undeniably viral, and the cultural exchange, unforgettable. What makes Speed’s travel content resonate is his willingness to engage fully: he asks questions, makes mistakes, laughs at himself, and lets locals lead the experience. Ghana is perfectly equipped to meet that energy head-on. For Ghana, this level of exposure matters. Speed’s audience is young, global, and curious. A visit to Accra wouldn’t just entertain—it would introduce millions to Ghana’s creativity, culture, and everyday life in a way no tourism campaign ever could. This pairing of Ghana as a stop on iShowSpeed’s African tour won’t just be another destination—it will be a cultural collision between one of the internet’s biggest personalities and one of Africa’s most dynamic cities. Loud, funny, emotional, chaotic, and unforgettable. And if history has taught us anything, when Speed pulls up, the internet follows. Ghana is ready.
